It’s safe to say that, before I even knew what Tarot truly was, the Wheel of Fortune was already playing a huge part in my life. The Wheel is all about cycles, changes, possibilities, and opportunities. While researching more about this card, I found out that this particular symbol is older than Tarot itself! How crazy is that?!
This card brings us to that place of knowing that we should cultivate what we have inside of ourselves so that we will see these changes reflected in the world outside of us. The Wheel, or the energy of The Wheel of Fortune, has not only helped me in my life before Tarot, while studying Tarot, and while reading Tarot professionally.
I grew up in an itty-bitty town where everyone knew everyone else’s name, family, birthday, and almost everything was closed on Sunday, so you can imagine how it was hard to cultivate my inner strength when I could never have a moment of peace away from prying eyes. I felt trapped in a cycle of going to a place a worship who didn't accept me as being gay, and whose beliefs I didn’t really connect with. This cycle was constant, and one that only I could break. That is one of the lessons with The Wheel – if you are in a cycle, only you can change that cycle for the better.

So, after a few years of desperately clawing my way out of the place where I felt restrained by others opinions, I broke the cycle of constant shame surrounding my sexuality, my beliefs, and my outlook on life. This, however, was not an easy task. For four years, I was trapped in a mindset that who I was wasn’t okay; I was berated with negativity, fear, and suicidal thoughts. This was when I said ENOUGH! I tore away from what everyone wanted and expected of me and decided to walk my path alone, and I have never once looked back.
This is when I was drawn back to Tarot after experimenting as a rebellious teenager. I will take you back to the bookstore that I was at when I purchased the Tarot deck that started this new cycle in my life of healing and self-empowerment, I will never forget it. This is the moment that the energy of The Wheel, that good fortune and luck, really kicked in. I felt so at home with this new deck that I never let it out of my sight. I constantly pulled cards for myself and, as my feelings lifted to happier and healthier than ever before, I found a new cycle! This cycle was one where I was finally comfortable in who I was, and I knew that I was where I was supposed to be!
My good fortune only increased from here. I was gifted two card reading courses, and that really just blew my mind! I was almost in tears at the generosity of those that gifted these courses and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. The day after I received my Certificate that I launched my Facebook page for my first online card reading business. The Wheel of Fortune kept turning for me, bringing me amazing clients and recognition for my work, as well as validation from my clients about their readings.
Now, the Wheel of Fortune keeps turning, and I keep growing. When I draw this card for a client, I tell them that the world will keep on turning regardless of what happens, and that they only need to know where they stand and to keep a positive outlook on the change that they will be experiencing. This card is a wonderful reminder that the energy of change is constant and is neutral; it is our reaction to the change that determines the positive or negative course it takes. I feel so blessed and happy when I see this card for myself, because it’s a reminder to me that, while I might want to freak out about one thing or another, if I stay grounded in my own truth, while accepting and loving the person I am, that my wheel will turn in a positive and loving direction.
I am definitely getting ready for the changes that continue to come my way, and I welcome them with an open heart, open mind, and open arms. I truly hope that when you draw The Wheel, that it brings you comfort in knowing about your own power to change the cycles in your life and make anything better!
