Tarot Spotlight: Amanda Davey

By October 20, 2016 December 30th, 2020

Welcome to Tarot Spotlight, where I shine the light on our Biddy Tarot Community members who are making a real difference with Tarot as a guide.

In this post, I chat with Amanda, a clinical hypnotherapist, coach and Neuro-linguistic programming practitioner who is now learning to integrate Tarot with her practice.

While Amanda is in the early stages of learning Tarot, she has taken the courageous step to read for friends and family with some amazing results.

Read on to discover how Amanda is taking her ‘first steps' in Tarot and learning how to access her intuition for insightful Tarot readings.

How did you first get into Tarot?

I’ve always been fascinated by the Tarot, New Age and metaphysical topics. However, for years I didn’t do anything about the actual Tarot as I was too busy with other things. However, after qualifying as a Clinical Hypnotherapist I began looking at other ways to work with your subconscious to resolve issues and create better lives. Tarot kept popping up and so I took the plunge and bought my first deck, the Original Rider-Waite, and a book about Tarot.

I really felt a connection with the cards and found that my intuition kicked in and that I was able to do simple readings. I was totally hooked.

How do you use Tarot now?

I use Tarot to provide insight into my life and that of my friends and family. I’m also a Biddy Tarot free reader and love that I can help other people while developing my skills and gaining feedback.

I really want to use the Tarot as one of the tools in my business to help people create positive change in their life through hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching. These work together beautifully with the Tarot and I’m really excited to see how people can create a better life.

What steps did you take to learn to read Tarot?

I started with my intuition and a single book, but discovered that I wanted to know more. A recommendation for a free webinar with Brigit by the Daily Tarot Girl really helped me realise that this was something I was meant to be doing and so I signed up for Tarot Foundations 1.

What was one of the biggest challenges you've faced learning Tarot?

Initially I really struggled with the court cards. However, Brigit’s TF1 course (Module 4) has really helped me. I’ve also realised that you do really need to trust and listen to your intuition.

What ONE thing made learning Tarot easy & joyful for you?

Trusting my intuition, and having the Biddy Tarot guides and training. Seriously, my printed and bound copies of Tarot Foundations: 31 Days to Read Tarot with Confidence and The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings are invaluable.

What's one of your proudest moments as a Tarot reader?

The first time I took the plunge and did a reading for a total stranger! I’d only done readings for myself and one for my eldest son. It was an amazing experience and the feedback was incredible. I’m not phased by doing email readings now but I’ve yet to do a 1:1 live reading.

What's next for you when it comes to Tarot?

I’ve already signed up for TF2 and can’t wait to deepen my knowledge and skills further. I’m also currently setting up my site to launch my new business offering Tarot readings along with hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching.

Where can people find out more about you?
