Upright: A messenger, creative beginnings, synchronicity
Reversed: Emotional immaturity, creative block
The Page of Cups, like the Pages in all the suits, represents some sort of beginning or renewal. The Page of Cups is dressed in a blue tunic with floral print all over it and sports a bohemian type of beret on his head with a long, flowing scarf attached to it. The young man stands alone on the seashore with a single golden cup in his hand. Surprisingly, a fish pops its head out of the cup and looks at the young man. The young man simply expects to raise his cup for a toast or a drink, and instead is confronted with the ominous appearance of a fish, which even appears to be speaking to him. The Page of Cups indicates the surprising and unexpected nature of inspiration that comes to us from the realm of the unconscious and the spirit. Inspiration is seen to be something which comes upon us most unexpectedly and often in a manner which we do not understand.

The Page of Cups may also be an indication that your intuition is very sharp and you may receive messages from your unconscious mind. You may be more inclined to act on a hunch or have a psychic experience. This is a good time to trust your intuition and your gut feeling.

Given the Page of Cups upright is reflective of your creative abilities, its reversal can indicate a creative block. There is an aspect of your Self that wants to be expressed, but for whatever reason, you are holding back. You may worry about whether your creativity will lead you in the direction you want, or whether it truly has value in this world. Or, you may feel 'stuck' when it comes to actually expressing yourself creatively and you don't know how to bring this aspect of yourself out into the external environment. The ideas are there but you are having trouble figuring out how to make them into reality.
You are keeping your creative inspirations secret. You feel 'called' to do this work, but are worried whether it is realistic or not. Who cares? Go for it! What have you got to lose?
The reversed Page of Cups may be a sign that you are busy following a 'gut feeling' about something but you are putting any logical thought to the side. You are being lead completely by emotion and intuition, perhaps to your detriment, because you are chasing the 'signs' rather than fully thinking things through. Following your intuition is a beautiful thing, but be mindful that you are not doing so to the detriment of your common sense.
The Page of Cups reversed may represent someone who is immature or has trouble managing their emotions. You or someone you know may also be prone to childlike tantrums and a loss of emotional control in the face of adversity. There may be exaggerated emotional outbursts and a temperamental, overly dependent personality.
The Page of Cups reversed can indicate someone who is escaping through drugs or alcohol, or someone who is running away from reality and living in their own world. This is a person who is emotionally insecure and unable to conduct healthy relationships as he expects too much and gives too little. He is lacking in self-love and self-acceptance, and may be emotionally abusive. This person has rampant and unfocused emotions, and may therefore get his or her feelings hurt without reason. He is suspicious, self-doubting, insincere, selfish and easily depressed. This may be someone you know or even a reflection of your shadow self.
The Page of Cups reversed can sometimes indicate substance abuse, particularly if paired with the Devil. You may be using drugs or alcohol as a way to escape your reality and to dream about a more favourable possibility. It will eventually catch up with you.
