A ‘Real Life’ Example of the Sacred Mandala Tarot Reading

Amanda (not her real name) was in the middle of a 30-day spiritual program when she came to me for a Tarot reading. She selected the Sacred Mandala Tarot reading as a way to better understand herself as part of the spiritual program. She wanted “a baseline of who I am today and what my spiritual challenges are so that I can compare after the program.”

Here’s how the reading transpired…

Dear Amanda,

Thank-you for visiting biddytarot.com and requesting a Tarot reading. It is a pleasure to be able to read for you!

You have requested the Sacred Mandala Tarot reading. I concentrated carefully on your question while shuffling the Tarot cards for you. I then laid the cards out and this is what they told me.

sacred-mandala-online-tarot-readingThe Self – Two of Cups reversed

Ambitions and Desires – Three of Swords

Ideals and Aspirations – Hermit reversed

Actual Endeavours – Seven of Wands reversed

Dependencies and Addictions – King of Pentacles

Strengths – King of Wands reversed

Faults and Weaknesses – Nine of Swords reversed

Self Perception – Two of Swords reversed

Deepest Desires and Fulfilment – Five of Pentacles reversed

I think this spiritual program is going to be just what you need. I can see that with so many reversed cards in your reading, you are feeling quite blocked and challenged at the moment and you are now seeking release from these blockages. In fact, you may be reflecting on the past so as to learn the lessons you may have missed. It’s also interesting that most of the cards are from the Minor Arcana, which suggests you’ve been consumed in day-to-day matters and haven’t allowed yourself enough time to reflect on the bigger picture. So, while you may be starting from a place of confusion or lack of clarity, I think the timing of this program is just perfect because it will give you a chance to take a step back and think about your broader life goals and lessons.

You know what was really interesting? As I was shuffling your cards, I looked up into the sky and saw about 20 large birds (maybe pelicans?) soaring in the sky as a group. They just kept going up and up. I am really big on visual cues, so I saw this as a sign that life can only get better from here and that you will be nurtured and inspired by the people you are working with. Perhaps you can benefit from others who are doing the program too, and you will all lift each other up to higher places. Very inspiring!

Ok, now to each card…

The Two of Cups reversed in the Self position is interesting because this is usually a card about partnerships. I see this as a reflection of the partnership you have with yourself and the reversal of this card suggests that you are feeling that the partnership is currently out of balance. You may be struggling to understand yourself, to show compassion towards yourself, and to forgive yourself. You are trying to make the connection with your inner being, but every time you do, you feel rejected in some way or that you can’t get close to who you really are. Now, remember this is about baselines before you start the program, so see this program as an opportunity to get closer to your inner being. You’re doing the right thing!!

The Three of Swords shows that you have been hurt previously as a result of a loss. It may be a close friend or family member who has passed away, or a relationship that has failed. You have gone through a period of sorrow, grief and deep sadness. Now, as you embark on this new program, you are preparing yourself to let go of this pain and sadness. Again, I feel that you want to be able to forgive yourself and others in order to release yourself from the hurt you have felt. You know that you cannot stay in this upset state for much longer.

The Hermit is the ultimate soul searcher. He is on a personal quest to understand himself on a very deep level. He has travelled through life, observing, contemplating and learning, and now he is at a point where he has connected with who he really is. Reversed, I sense that you recognise that you have lost the connection with your inner being and now your aspiration is to take out some more time for reflection and contemplation. Again, another wonderful sign that what you are doing with this program is just what you need right now. So, give yourself permission to create time and space for deep reflection, away from your busy lifestyle.

The reversed Seven of Wands shows that in your everyday life, you are feeling overwhelmed and challenged. It is literally an uphill battle to get anything done or achieved and you feel like you are just losing the fight. Other people are constantly challenging you and opposing your plans. You are having to prove yourself all of the time, and no one is giving you the benefit of the doubt. This just makes for a very heavy workload and a feeling of being completely overwhelmed. No wonder you are ready for a break!!

In terms of dependencies and addictions, the King of Pentacles can play out in one of two ways – as a part of yourself, or as someone you know. As a part of yourself, you may find that you have placed a huge emphasis on your career and income generation. So much so that this has meant you have lost the focus on your spiritual goals (up until now, of course). As someone else, there may be someone in your life who is well-established financially and in their career, who values possessions and material wealth. He feels more like a romantic partner than anyone else, and is someone who has a prevalent role in your life. John? Is he your dependency or addiction? And does he make you value money and possessions more than you might want to?

In terms of strengths, the reversal of the King of Wands shows that this is a latent strength – something that you are capable of but you are not using. The King of Wands represents pure fire energy. He is a natural-born leader of all kinds of people, and he is very visionary. Once he sets himself a goal, he sticks to it and ensures that he can make it happen with the support of those around him. People naturally gravitate towards this King as they know he will get things done and will do it very well. He is a master, too, at being able to get other people to do his work for him, and keep them on-side throughout the process. However, reversed, there are blockages to you accessing this part of you for some reason. Your expectations of yourself and others may be too high. You may be confused about what your goal is and how to get there. You may be struggling to get people on board with you to manifest your vision. Think about how you can tap into this energy source again and use it for good.

In terms of weaknesses, the Nine of Swords reversed shows that you tend to be quite an anxious, nervous person. You may get quite worked up about things inside of your head when, really, you don’t need to worry at all. You might stress about a particular situation, thinking of all the possible reasons or outcomes, only to find that it is all inside of your head and is not a true representation of the situation. Realise that happiness and contentment comes from within, so learn to work with any delusions or negative self-talk that is worrying you. Focus on the facts of a situation and learn to relax or calm yourself down if a situation is feeling out of control.

The Two of Swords reversed suggests that you are currently feeling as if you are at a crossroads in your life, but you may be chiding yourself for being indecisive or unclear. There is often a deeper feeling of guilt involved too and this may be why you are stalling on an important decision. You don’t know whether to put your needs first or someone else’s. You may also be overwhelmed with information (particularly with the Nine of Swords reversed) which is causing you to freeze, unable to move forward and make a clear decision.

Finally, the reversed Five of Pentacles reflects that you feel you have already hit rock bottom and it can only get better from here. While the cards in your reading are a little gloomy, I have to admit, I am so, so encouraged that you are doing this spiritual program. You have recognised that your life as it is now is not working for you as you would like, and so you have been proactive in seeking out change. You recognise that you feel out of touch with yourself, disconnected, isolated and alone, and you seek to change that by rebuilding the relationship you have with yourself. I encourage you to be inspired and energised by the actions you’re taking now to change all of that. You’ve done so well to get yourself onto this program and it can only go up from here!

I so look forward to hearing how the program goes and how you feel at the end of it, and even a few months later. I am so glad to see that you are aware of what you need to work on and you are now giving yourself the opportunity to do that. I think this will be a really successful journey for you.

I hope this reading has helped you. If you have any questions or require clarification on any of the cards drawn here, please email me. I also value your feedback and would appreciate it if you can take 5-10 minutes to complete the feedback survey. By completing the survey, you will be rewarded 10 Biddy Tarot loyalty points.

All the best,

Amanda’s Feedback

Brigit,

This is awesome! Not gloomy at all. I always do a spiritual cleansing before the New Years so that “out with the old, in with the new” becomes a conscious decision rather than a cliché. I was a nearly a week in when I decided to do this reading so every aspect of my life was laid bare for consideration (The “it gets worse before it gets better” phase).

This is great. It picks up not only the energy of where I am now with all the reversals, but also hones in on the areas exactly as I am seeing them myself. I think it is exciting, rather than gloomy because you have reaffirmed I am actually focusing on the right aspects of my life. Amazing clarity! Thanks so much!!!
