Weekly Tarot Card (Feb 15) – Fool

The FoolThe card drawn for this week is the Fool.

In the Rider Waite deck, the Fool shows a young man walking along a cliff top. In one arm he holds a little sack for his journey, in the other he holds a white rose, representing innocence. He looks up to the sky for hope and inspiration, but this is preventing him from seeing how close to the edge of the cliff he really is. A dog barks at his heels.

The Fool represents a new journey, a new perspective, and fresh ideas. It represents that time when you know anything is possible, even if, rationally, the circumstances are against you. You have almost a childlike innocence as you approach life over the coming week, eager to discover and experience new things. You may also be feeling quite playful and ‘free’, so engage yourself in a few fun activities that remind yourself of when you were a child!

This is also an excellent card to meditate on if you are experiencing a lot of fear in your life. The Fool enhances courage, risk-taking, and the creative expression needed to open up new areas in your life. The Fool is always whole, healthy and without fear. He is the spirit of who we are, the spirit expressed and experienced as wonder, awe, curiosity and anticipation. We never know what’s in the future, but like the Fool, we must blindly go forward. He teaches a lesson about making right choices. It’s good to be focused on spiritual matters, but stay grounded at the same time in the physical world.
